Meals for Seniors

Senior Nutrition Peace Meal

Peace Meal provides more than 1,600 meals a day throughout a 14-county region in Illinois. The meals contain one-third of the daily adult nutritional requirements and are served in congregate settings or home delivered.

Socialization

Peace Meal encourages people 60 and older to enjoy a meal in the company of friends and neighbors. Congregate meals are served at noon meal in community locations, and many communities offer transportation to the sites. Eating is just one attraction. Often recreational and educational activities are planned to ad to one’s enjoyment.

Home-Delivered Meals

Home-delivered meals are available to individuals who meet eligibility requirements of a physical, emotional or psychological need for meal assistance.

Cost

The suggested donation is $3.50 a meal. This is not a poverty or charity program, but rather a low-cost meal program to help those hardest hit by the rising cost of living. Peace Meal is partially funded through Older Americans Act and State of Illinois General Revenue funds. No one is ever refused meals or services due to an inability to donate. Illinois Link is accepted at all sites.
