The Piatt County Pedal Pusher program is a program developed by Maple Point and Faith in Action and sponsored by the Piatt County Nursing Home Foundation. The purpose of the program is to provide bicycle rides for seniors and disabled individuals throughout Piatt County. Currently, bike rides are being provided for residents of Maple Point and Piatt County Nursing Home.
On Oct. 6th, the Foundation will be hosting a kick-off event at Valentine Park for the community. After that kick-off, we hope to be able to provide rides for community seniors this fall and then in the spring start taking the program county-wide and taking the bikes to other communities in the county.
There is no cost, but donations are accepted for maintenance/repairs/supplies for the bikes. Currently, rides are being scheduled by Maple Point at different times throughout the week. When we begin scheduling rides for the community, we will most likely have these in the local paper with the phone number for those interested to call. Rides currently are leaving from Maple Point and taking place along a local bike trail. We hope to add more routes as the program grows.
